Biography

Professor Dr. Christoph Fiedler wrote his doctorate thesis on basic rights of speech/expression and on the prohibition of censorship. He published a monograph on freedom of expression in a connected world and writes on questions of media law in the context of digitalisation and Europeanisation. He participated in hearings in the German Bundestag and the European Parliament, among others on the protection of sources in data retention, data protection law and net neutrality.

As an expert on the so-called “right to forget”, he spoke at the meeting of the Google Expert Advisory Board on the Right to be Forgotten in Berlin. In addition to the law on regulating conventional and digital media, his work focuses on copyright and data protection law as well as questions of the right of expression. Christoph Fiedler works for the VDZ Association of German Magazine Publishers and is chairman of the legal committee of EMMA, the European Magazine Media Association.
